Albert "Dean" Leath, age 81, passed away at 7:07 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Costello Terrace in Monmouth, Illinois. He was born on December 19, 1937 in Macan, Missouri, the son of James Everett and Vurgil Ruth (Schaffer) Leath. Dean attended school in Cameron and Galesburg. On October 5, 1956, he married Patricia Johnson and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2012. Dean worked for 17 years on the Armstrong Farms in Cameron and Eugene and Ted Hanson in rural Monmouth. He also worked for Wells Pet Foods in Monmouth for 32 years. Dean enjoyed his cars and riding his bike. Dean is survived by one son, Dean A. (Ronita) Leath of Monmouth, Illinois, one granddaughter, Crystal Leath, one grandson, Christopher (Rita) Leath, three great-granddaughters, Chevella Hinderliter, Camara Leath, and Cheyenne Leath, and two great-grandsons, Harley and Luke Hinderliter. Also surviving are his siblings; Fred Leath of Monmouth, Illinois, Jim (Edna) Leath of Monmouth, Illinois, Gilbert Leath of Galesburg, Illinois, and Margaret "Margie" Borky of Monmouth, Illinois. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by wife Patricia, his parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park. A memorial fund is being established for Dean's grandchildren.
