Donald Miller Obituary

Donald E. Miller, age 95, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 5:12 am on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at his Monmouth residence. Don was born on July 31, 1924 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Harry Roscoe and Hilda Belle Brinton Miller. Don was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools. Don was married to Mary Louise Johnson on January 23, 1943 in Kahoka, Missouri. Don began work at Frank Parker Heating and Air Conditioning where he was taught the trade. He then entered the United States Army and was a Technical Sergeant 64th Bombardment Squadron, 43rd Bombardment Group and served over seas.  Upon his return from service, Don established Don Miller Heating and Air Conditioning in Monmouth, and has owned and operated that business for seventy years. He was affectionately called " The Tin Man ". Don loved hunting and fishing on the Mississippi. He owned his own cabin in Delabar Park. Don was one of the first Monmouth Area Jaycees and was one of the crew which cleared the trees in Delabar Park to make way for Electric Service. He and Mary loved ball room dancing together and did woodworking in his shop, and he loved gardening around his home. He was a supreme handyman and loved personally fabricating everything. His main interest was and is his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Mary and his two daughters and their families. There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in his death by his parents, two sons, and two sisters. 

A graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Monmouth Cemetery. No visitation or viewing is currently being planned. A memorial fund is being established for the Warren County Relay for Life.
