Greta Ryner Obituary

Greta Lucille Ryner, age 93, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 8:25 am on Friday December 6, 2019 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Roseville, Illinois. Greta was born on July 22, 1926 in Monmouth and is the daughter of Emmet Ray and Ruth Ellen Crandall Peterson. She was raised in rural Monmouth and attended West Prairie rural school and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1944. Greta married Richard E. Ryner on November 1, 1945 at Fairview Center Church, near Monmouth. He passed away in August 30, 1999. Greta began at Illinois Bankers Life of Monmouth as a typist. She and Richard first lived in Gerlaw, Illinois and moved to the farm in 1948, They moved to Monmouth in 1957 and she began cosmetology in 1960-61 when she attended the Galesburg School of Cosmetology. Greta was beautician for 44 years locally in her own home, Greta's Beauty Shoppe. Greta and Richard loved to square dance and attended many dances locally. She loved to read and play bridge. She was a former member of Coldbrook Christian Church.
Surviving her is her daughter, Nancy Stahl and Rodney of Auberry, California. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren are also surviving. Her brother, Lee Peterson and Helen of Clemmons, NC and sister in law Marilyn Peterson and her children are also surviving.  A number of other nieces and nephews, and other relatives also survive. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband,  two sons Rick and Rob, and eight sisters Kathryn, Leona, Faye, Maxine, Lois, Helen, and two brothers, Ray and Max.

A graveside funeral service for the interment of her ashes is planned on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at 10:30 am at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Roseville, Illinois. No viewing or visitation is currently planned by her family.
