Helen A. Hayes

Helen A. Hayes, age 96, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 10:15 am on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Helen was born on April 6, 1923 in Burlington, Iowa and is the daughter of William C. and Mabel Young Adair. She attended public schools locally and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1941. She later married John C. Hayes and he preceded her in his death in 1994. Helen is a homemaker and a designer of graphic arts while she was in Champaign, Illinois. She returned to the area in 1974. She is member of the Pi Beta Phi Alumni Association and Chapter E PEO. She loved the game of golf, which she played locally and loved art.  Helen is survived by her son, John C. Hayes, Jr. in Albertville, Minnesota and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one brother W.C. Adair, and one sister Jane Adair Duncan Gustafson. 

A memorial service is planned by her family on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. No visitation is being currently planned by her family, but a memorial fund is being established for Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club and Chapter E PEO.
