Howard Hume Obituary

Howard D. Hume, age 77, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 11:09 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Howard was born on January 16, 1942 in Manika, Illinois and is the son of Raymond and Helen Haber Hume. Howard was raised in Peoria and the Monmouth area and attended Hadley School for the Blind in Chicago, IL. Howard was trained in Chicago and was the state manager for the Illinois Visually Handicapped of America. Howard served as President of the Alumni Association for the IVHI school and was a member of the Illinois Council for the Blind and member of the Illinois Association for the Blind Athlete. He returned to Monmouth in 1990. Howard loved to read and was an advocate for people with disabilities and politics. Howard was a born again Christian of the Baptist Faith and formerly was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He is survived by one sister, Sandra (Hume) Abbadusky, of Monmouth, Illinois. There are also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews surviving. Howard is preceded in his death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. 

A memorial service is planned on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Cremation has been accorded. No visitation or viewing is being planned and a memorial fund has been established for the Winner's Circle radio ministry, which Howard avidly supported.
