Penny M. Skees

Penny M. Skees, age 57, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 5:25 pm. Penny was born on July 22, 1961 in La Mesa, California and is the daughter of Gene E. and Joyce Beverly Swanson Ray. Penny was raised and educated in Monmouth, where she attended public schools and Monmouth High School. Penny married Donald Eugene "Pete" Skees on June 30. 2007 in Monmouth, and he passed away on May 25, 2012. Penny was a homemaker, loved singing karaoke, gardening,  and most of all loved her children, grandchildren, and cat "Baby". She is survived by her daughter, Genie Stanley (Josh) of Kewanee, Illinois,  and her son, Jamie Rosenbalm, of Edgington, Illinois. She has five grandchildren, Cohner Powers, Caleigh Stanley, Catelynn Stanley, Christopher Rosenbalm, and Matthew Rosenbalm. Also surviving Penny is one sisters, Peggy Hasten (Jerry) of Monmouth, Illinois and two brothers, Randy Ray and Robert Dale Ray, both of Monmouth, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister.

A gathering of her family and friends is planned on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial fund is being established by her family to help cover funeral expense. Following the gathering, interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park.
