Susan E. (Carlson) Rutledge

Susan Rutledge, age 73, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 3:30 am on January 4, 2020; at the Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center in Roseville, Illinois. Susan was born on September 8, 1946 in Macomb, Illinois and is the daughter of James and Marian Cheek Carlson. Susan was raised in Monmouth where she attended Garfield Grade School, Central Junior High, and Monmouth High School where she graduated with the class of 1964. After high school Susan attended beauty school in Galesburg and began work as a beautician. Susan was previously married to William Whiteside. Susan married David A. Rutledge on July 11, 1998 in Galesburg, Illinois and he is surviving. Susan was a flight manager at the Galesburg Airport for a number of years. She enjoyed flying and even flew solo. She later was the office manager for Peterson Weaver fertilizer broker. Susan is a member of the American Legion Auxilliary
Surviving her is her husband, David A. Rutledge of Monmouth, Illinois and two sons, Kyle Whiteside of rural Roseville, IL and Eric Whiteside of Jacksonville, IL. Two step daughters, Karen Bosze and Dennis of Crossville, TN and Christine Raes of Clark, South Dakota. Eight Grandchildren and one great granddaughter is surviving. Susan's sister, Luann Snyder and Duane in East Peoria, Illinois and her brother, Jeff Carlson  and Linda in Marietta, Georgia. There are also a number of other relatives surviving her. She is preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, and one younger brother Lynn Carlson.

A funeral service for Susan E. Rutledge is planned for Friday January 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends from 9:30 am to 11:00 at the Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. A memorial fund is being established for the American Legion Auxilliary.
