Barbara L. Lovdahl, age 90, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home on May 16, 2020 10:25 pm. Barbara was born on December 29, 1929 near the settlement of Eleanor in rural Warren County and is the daughter of Edgar V. and Edith V. Murrell Icenogle. She was raised and educated in Monmouth where she attended Harding School and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1947. Barbara married C. Creighton Lovdahl on June 29, 1947 in Monmouth, and he passed away on September 7, 2017. Barbara began work as a seamstress working for Formfit Company, then working at K and G Sewing Center, and finally at Kid's Corner, all of Monmouth, Illinois. Barbara loved gardening and working in her own garden. She completed the University of Illinois course and was considered a " Master Gardner ". She and Creighton also took Ball Room Dancing and loved to dance together. They would often take overseas trip to various foreign countries where they often danced together. Barbara also loved home decorating and often assisted her family and friends in their home decor. Lastly, Barbara enjoyed and often hand crafted Porcelain Dolls and had many in her collection. In their family's recollections, the words " If Barbara could imagine it, then Creighton could build it " was often heard.
Surviving Barbara are her daughters, Linda Lofdahl (David) of Canadian Lakes, Michigan and Kathie Arthur (Richard) of Monmouth, Illinois, and three sons, Michael Lovdahl in San Diego, California, Jon Lovdahl (Vicki Haase) of Monmouth, Illinois and Brian Lovdahl (Amy) of Portland, Oregon. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren surviving. Barbara has two sisters surviving, Reva Zielke of Alexis, Illinois and Janice Rader (Larry) of Galesburg, Illinois. A number of other relatives are also surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband Creighton, one daughter, two sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren.
An entombment service for Barbara L. Lovdahl is planned by her family on Wednesday May 20, 2020 at the Mausoleum of Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00 am. No visitation and/or viewing is planned at the funeral home. CDC recommendations and social distancing should be observed at the mausoleum during this time. Entombment is then to be accorded in the Mausoleum.. Her family would suggest planting a tree or planting an area of flowers in her memory rather than send flowers.
