Brenda J. Stokes of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois on Sunday October 24, 2021 at 3:11 am. Brenda was born on March 1, 1953 in Lewistown, Illinois and is the daughter of Clifford
A. and Mary Louise Reimolds Jones. She was raised in rural Warren County where she attended both Warren School and graduated from Yorkwood High School. Brenda was previously married to Donald Stokes. Brenda was an excellent mother, grandmother, and cook, raising her family. She did many jobs at MCR Remanufacturing of Monmouth for many years. After her retirement she was the manager and tended bar at the Four Star Bar of Monmouth, Illinois. Brenda was a proud member of the Monmouth Eagles Club and enjoyed going to play Bingo. Brenda also was an avid reader of all sorts.Brenda was known to be a very charitable person to so many locally. She is survived by four sons, Cary Stokes of Monmouth, Jay Stokes of Kirkwood, Dustin Stokes of Monmouth, and Donald Stokes and Tonya of Stronghurst, Illinois. There are three grandsons, Nathan, Caden, and Oliver Stokes and three granddaughters, Jayla and Addison Stokes, and Lanie Nichols. There are four sisters, Karen Rex of Oklahoma, Beverly Farrington of the Quad Cities, Linda Queen of Macomb, Illinois, and Ronita Jones of Monmouth, Illinois. Brenda's brothers survive, Gary Jones and Diane and Larry Jones and Peggy, both of Monmouth, Illinois. Also surviving is her long-time love, Byron Bundy. She is preceded in her death by her parents, Clifford and Mary, her daughter, Melinda Jones, a brother in infancy, Clifford, and her brother Bobby Jones.
A funeral service is planned on Friday October 29, 2021 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends at Turnbull Funeral Home from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to her funeral service on Friday. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery of Monmouth. A memorial fund is being established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals.
