Catherine "Cathy" A. Westman

Catherine A. "Cathy" Westman, age 60, of Knoxville, Illinois, formerly of Monmouth, passed away at 12:57 AM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois. She was born February 4, 1961 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Buford and Eleanore (Quinn) Young. She attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Monmouth High School. Cathy married Michael Westman in 1981 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1993. Cathy worked for over twenty years in home healthcare, most recently with Dors Rehabilitation. Previously, she had worked as a pharmacy technician in Peoria and at Turner Drug Store in Galesburg, Illinois. Cathy enjoyed watching Minnesota Vikings Football with her son Michael, watching her favorite television shows, and gardening with her companion Rick. Mostly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. 

Cathy is survived by her mother Eleanore of Monmouth, Illinois, two daughters, Amanda (Jared) Stanley of Galesburg, Illinois and Megan (Derrick) Joiner of Mountain Home AFB in Idaho, one son, Michael Westman of Knoxville, Illinois, grandchildren, Caleb, Dylan, Addison, Aleysiana, Eryn, and Bryson, one sister, Tara (Richard) Speck of Monmouth, Illinois, and one brother, Bill (Cathy) Young of Monmouth, Illinois. She is also survived by her significant other, Rick Dykeman and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Richard Young and Joe Young.

As were Cathy's wishes, cremation is being accorded. A memorial service is planned for Noon on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation is planned for 11:00 AM-Noon prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Monmouth. A memorial is being established for her family. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.
