Charles E. "Rusty" Gillette

Charles E. " Rusty " Gillette, age 65, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 9:05 pm on Wednesday March 20, 2024 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth. Rusty was born on March 4, 1959 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the son of Merle D. and Arlene E. Headen Gillette. Rusty attended local schools and Monmouth High School. Rusty began work as a meat cutter for Chuck Bennett at Bennett's Grocery and later at Tom and Linda's Grocery and lastly at Farmland Foods of Monmouth. Rusty loved to fish and watch wrestling. Rusty also loved traveling and spending time with friends and family. Rusty is survived by two sons, Michael Gillette and Lusiana of Proctor, Minnesota and Christopher Thomas and Anne of Bettendorf, Iowa. Rusty's brother survives, Terry Gillette and Patti of Iowa City, IA and six grandchildren. A number of nieces and nephews are also surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents, one son, Daniel and Six siblings.   

A graveside service for Rusty is planned on Saturday March 23, 2024 at 10:00 am at Monmouth Cemetery, Fellowship at the American Legion is planned following the graveside service at Monmouth Cemetery Rusty is being cared for by Turnbull Funeral Home
