Dolores A. McCleary, age 89, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, at 6:10 am on Thursday June 4, 2020. Dolores was born on November 21, 1930 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of T. James and Helen M. Lee Cavanaugh. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended the Farmers Academy and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1948. Dolores married Joseph A. McCleary on May 12, 1955 in Monmouth and he is surviving her. Dolores was a long-time employee at the National Bank of Monmouth and served as a bookkeeper and teller. She has been a life time member of Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth and is a member and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was very much a homemaker and took much care in her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Joseph McCleary of Monmouth and one son Joseph McCleary also of Monmouth. There are two daughters surviving, Julie Ehrhart and Steve and Jane John and Kevin, both of whom are of Monmouth. There are five grandchildren, Rebecca Lalonde, Bryan John, Molly Reynolds, Bridget Ehrhart, Katie Wuich. Five great grandchildren are also surviving. Dolores is survived by her brother, James Cavanaugh and Rosalie of Kirkwood, Illinois and her sister in law, Josie Buckley of Monmouth, Illinois. There are a number of nieces and nephews also surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents and four sisters, Roberta O'Brien, Maryrose Sullivan, Betty Cavanaugh, and Kathleen Rowley. Social distancing and the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control should be observed, as a Funeral Mass of the Resurrection is planned at 10:30 am on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Monmouth, A Rosary will be recited at the church at 10:00 am prior to the funeral mass. Friends may call at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth on Monday June 8th during the day. Her interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for Immaculate Conception School.
