Donald Deuger Obituary

Donald R. Deuger, age 90, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 5:00 am on February 19, 2022 at the Roseville Nursing and Rehab Center in Roseville, Illinois. Don was born on April 4, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is the son of Fred and Mabel Rogers Deuger. Don moved to the Brainerd, Minnesota in 1933 where he spent most of his boyhood on a resort owned by his father. Donald attended schools and graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd in 1947. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1950 being honorably discharged as a Sergeant from the Medical Department of the 31st Fighter Wing in Albany, Georgia. He then attended the Chicago College of Laboratory Technique from 1950 to 1952. Donald married Joan McKelvie on July 17, 1954 at First Christian Church in Monmouth, Illinois. He and Joan have been long time members of First Christian Church where he has served as Deacon, Trustee, and Elder over the many years they have attended. He came to Monmouth Hospital on East Euclid Avenue from 1950 to 1963 where he assumed the duties as Laboratory and X-Ray supervisor. He then began his employment at Ralph Wells Company as a Laboratory and Quality Control Technician. Over the years, he held several other positions including plant manager of the Third Street Plant during it's last eight years of operation. Don retired from Ralph Wells in 1995. After retiring Donald kept busy for the next twenty-five years by providing all types of handy man services to the community of Monmouth. Don also offered the revenue of his metal salvage to his Christian ministry.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Guldbeck and Per of Fort Wayne, IN. and Roberta Goforth of Ashland City, TN. and three sons, Mark Deuger and Jodi of Groton, MA; Jayme Deuger of Scottsdale, AZ; and Gary Deuger and Terri of Wake Forest, NC. There are thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also surviving. He is preceded in his death by his parents, his wife Joan, and one brother, Fritz.

A funeral service is planned for Saturday February 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church of Monmouth, with interment in Warren County Memorial Park. His family plans visitation at the church from 9:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the funeral service.  A memorial fund is being established for First Christian Church.
