John Taylor Obituary

John W. Taylor, age 75, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 12:23 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. He was born January 20, 1945 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Ralph, and Harriet Francis (Cox) Taylor. John was reared and educated in Monmouth where he attended Monmouth Schools.  John loved sports and was especially fond of basketball.  Kobe Bryant was his favorite player and he was forever a L.A. Lakers Fan. He loved to play pool, sing karaoke, and loved to dress up. John was often seen riding his bike about Monmouth  and cut grass for many people in Monmouth. Everyone in Monmouth knew Johnny and loved him and treated him so well. He was a very kind and beautiful person and will be greatly missed by all. 

Johnny is survived two sisters, Lillie Hayes of Galesburg, Illinois and Pat Lucas of Monmouth, Illinois. His brother survives, Robert Taylor of Davenport, Iowa and his brother-in-law, Franklyn Herbert of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. A  host of nieces, nephews, and cousins are also surviving. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Harriet McMillion, Shirley Manley, and Willmetta Jean Herbert, and two brothers, Larry Dean Taylor and Vincent Eugene Taylor.

A funeral service for Johnny will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Friends may call all day Friday, and pay their respects at the funeral home on August 28, 2020 .Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery following the funeral on Saturday. A memorial fund is being established by his family.
