Linda D. (Manley) Orr, 70, passed away Friday, November 20, after a sudden illness. The world was graced with her presence on April 2, 1950, in Fairfield, IA, to Francis and Dorothy Manley. The family moved to Monmouth, IL, in 1966 when her dad transferred for his job. Upon graduating from Monmouth High School, Linda attended Mt. Vernon (Ohio) Bible College before marrying Donald (Donnie) R. Orr on October 17, 1970, at the Fairfield (Iowa) Foursquare Church. For a time, Linda worked at Dog n’ Suds in Monmouth and then, once her kids were older, she worked at Monmouth High School from 1997 until she retired in 2012. She was involved with Warren County Special Olympics for many years and was known for her scrumptious sugar cookies she made every Christmas. Linda was a member of New Life Foursquare Church in Monmouth and Calvary Assembly of God in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Donald R. Orr, and children, Edward (Eddie) Orr of Monmouth, Valena Orr of Monmouth, Melody (Mike) Dvorak of Lonsdale, MN, and Jeremy Orr of Monmouth. She will also be missed by her sisters, Sharon (Bob) Davis of Ocheyedan, IA, Donna (Mark) Kjellander of Royse City, TX, and Pam Manley of Vermilion, OH. Also mourning her death are her grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Hunter, and Zachary Dvorak, all of Lonsdale, MN; nephew, Randy Davis of Worthington, MN; and niece, Shari Davis of Ocheyedan, IA. She will be missed by many friends and extended family whose lives were impacted by Linda’s kindness. She is preceded in death by her parents, her nephew, Robert I. Davis, Jr. and her grandparents.
A graveside funeral service is planned on December 1, 2020 at 11:00 am at Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, Illinois. Due to restrictions by the Center for Disease Control, no visitation and gathering by family and friends is being planned.
