Loren Staley Obituary

Loren L. Staley, age 89, of Monmouth, passed away at 4:04 PM on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Roseville, Illinois. Loren was born on December 17, 1930 in Boden, Illinois, the son of Walter and Ruby Kannanberg Staley. He was raised in the Alexis area and attended it's local schools, graduating from Alexis High School in 1948. Loren first married Donna Bigger in Monmouth, Illinois on July 7, 1950 and she passed away on July 29, 1996. He later married Mary Bennett on October 10, 1999 in Las Vegas and she passed away on December 29, 2002. Loren began work at Farm-all in Rock Island for two and a half years. He then work at Engdahl's in Monmouth for the next eight years. Lastly he was employed for thirty-eight years as the shop foreman at Martin and Clark in Monmouth, IL until he retired. Loren enjoy all sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR. He liked tractor pulls and International Tractors, fishing, pitching horseshoes, and bowling. Mostly, Loren loved his grandchildren.

Loren is survived by three daughters, Diana Choronzak of Rock Island, Illinois, Gloria Short of Burlington, Iowa, and Lorna (Glenn) Cox of Roseville, Illinois, one brother, Melvin Staley of Milan, Illinois, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-sons, Jim Bennett and Ben Bennett, both of Monmouth, Illinois, numerous step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in his death by his parents, three brothers, Dick, Bob, and Dean; son in laws, Joe Choronzak and Dale Short, step-daughter Carla Lodwick, step-daughter in law Missy Bennett, and stepson Percy Bennett.

A private family funeral service is being planned. No visitation is currently scheduled. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
