Mary Jean (Dawdy) Livingston, passed away at Seminary Manor in Galesburg on Monday, March 8, 2021 after suffering a stroke. She went by her middle name Jean her entire life. She was born the 2nd of 10 children to Delwyn (Bill) and Kathryn (Knable) Dawdy on June 11, 1935. She graduated from Avon High School in 1953 with her sister Shirley, who was also her best friend. Jean married Al Livingston on October 10, 1959 in Galesburg and they made their home in Oquawka for over 50 years.
They had 3 children, Stanley Livingston (Maggie White) of Oquawka, IL, Lorrie Johnson of Dixon, IL, and Scott Livingston of Oquawka, IL. Grandchildren are Amber Johnson of Newington, GA and Amanda Johnson of Elgin, IL. She has 5 great-granddaughters, Angelina, Bailyn, and Zakyah Johnson, Geneae Morrison and Violet Martin. Also surviving are 2 brothers Dave (Marlene) Dawdy of St Marys, OH, Richard "Butch" (Bertie) Dawdy of Galesburg, IL, and 3 sisters, Jo (Ron) Wolfe of Burlington, IA, Jill (Roy) Hawkins of Galesburg, IL, and Susie Dawdy of Topeka, KS. In addition, she is survived by 2 nieces, Kelly Dawdy, Jamie Hawkins and 4 nephews, Bill Dawdy, Kevin Dawdy, Josh Hawkins, Zack Ohler and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and Spike. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, sister Shirley Green, and 3 brothers, Jon, George, and Jim (Buttons) Dawdy.
Jean was more than a homemaker, she ran the show with a velvet glove, and was a mother to anyone who needed her.
