Nancy E. (Value) Holmberg

Nancy E. Holmberg, age 94, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at 4:48 pm on Wednesday October 28, 2020 at her Monmouth home. Nancy was born on September 19, 1926 in Canton, Missouri and is the daughter of John and Maggie Atkinson Value. She spent her early life and received her schooling in Canton, Missouri and then attended high school in Monmouth, Illinois. Nancy married Robert Dean Holmberg on August 17, 1953 in Anna, Illinois and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1981. 

Prior to marrying Robert,  Nancy worked at two different dime stores and during WWII worked for Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg producing Quonset Huts for overseas soldiers.  She later worked for Bersted Hobby Craft.  Nancy was a long time member of Foursquare Gospel Church here in Monmouth.  Family was very important to Nancy.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She never missed a family reunion in 41 years.  Since moving to the country Nancy enjoyed raising chickens, growing flowers and feeding the birds.  She enjoyed spending time at the campground having weenie roasts with family & friends.  She loved her dogs,  Missy & Maggie.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Linda and Karen Holmberg and two sons, Gary and Don (Dawn) Holmberg all of Monmouth, Illinois.  She also raised her granddaughter, Linda Sue (James) Hamlin and her great grandson, Kurtis Reed.  Her daughter in law, Janet Holmberg of Knoxville also survives.  Five grandchildern,  four great grandchildren, one great great grandchild  and numerous nieces and nephews survive.  She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband Robert, son Kirby, and six sisters, Frieda Carnes, Beulah Gossett, Fannie Robertson, Pauline Taylor, Margaret Sullivan, and Millie Schmidt. One brother Sammy Value also preceded her in death. 

A funeral service is planned by her family on Wednesday November 4, 2020 at 10:30 am at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Friends may call at the Turnbull Funeral Home on Tuesday during the day to pay their respects or leave a donation to their memorial fund which is to be established by her family.
