Richard P.Hammond, 74, was pronounced dead Friday, January 8th, 2021 at his residence in Bushnell, Illinois. Richard was born August 5, 1946 in Galesburg, IL, son to Anna Louise Hammond. He attended Bushnell and area grade schools, but attended high school and graduated from Roseville in 1965. That same year, Richard enlisted in the United States Marines and served 4 years, with 2 years in active duty in Viet Nam. He returned home to work at Hagaer Pottery and local manufacturing as well as being a salesman for the Shooting Shack in Macomb. He then worked for many years as custodian at The Pace from which he retired. Richard was an active member of Prairieland Open Bible for many years where he was baptized. He last attended Northwoods Community Church in Canton, IL. Richard was proceeded in death by his mother, Anna and an infant brother. He is survived by his sisters Mary Wellman, Shirley (Rick) Lafary, and Sharon (Everette) Utterback, all of Bushnell, IL and his dear friends Ross and Carla Baker of Smithfield, IL.
Cremation rights have been accorded per his wishes and a memorial gathering is planned at the Bushnell V.F.W., 181 East Hail Street, Bushnell, Illinois on Saturday, January 16, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm.
