Richard Shrader Obituary

Richard W. "Rick"  Shrader, age  59, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 2:30 am at his residence on Friday July 8, 2022. He was born on February 2, 1963 in Hinckley, Illinois and was the son of Emmit and Elizabeth (Fields) Shrader. He was raised in Oquawka. He attended school  in Henderson County and graduated from Union High School in 1981. Rick served his country, enlisting in the United State Army and was a construction equipment repairer from 1980 to 1985.  Rick met Carolyn Sue Cox on August 28, 1983 while serving in Germany. Rick worked for Burlington Northern Sante Railroad as a "Carman" from 1990 to 2022. He and Carolyn are members of the Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 American Legion in Monmouth.  Rick loved to go fishing, boating and loved to travel. Rick had a hobby farm, canned vegetables, and enjoyed making wine. Rick was a football fan and a life long Chicago Bears  fan. Rick was a member of the Oquawka Masonic Lodge 123.  He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Shrader of Monmouth and two sons, Terry Shrader (Christina) of Oquawka, IL and Joey Shrader of Fort Worth TX. Rick's grandchildren survive,  Avery Shrader, Laila Shrader, Hunter Shrader, Riley Shrader. His sisters, Billye Lynn Davilla of Aurora, IL, and Mary Beth Mohr of Hibbing, Minnesota. Rick is preceded in his death by his parents. 

 Cremation is being accorded. Military Honors at 4:00 pm with a celebration of his life to follow will be held at the Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 American Legion on Saturday July 23, 2022 from 4:00 m to 8:00 pm. Memorial funds have been established for either the American Caner Society or the Oquawka Masonic Lodge 123 in Oquawka, Illinois.
