Robert Lee Obituary

Robert L. Lee, age 93, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at his residence on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:00 am. Bob was born on August 29, 1927 in Monmouth and is the son of Homer Raymond and Ruth Bell Ikerd. He was raised in Monmouth where he attended local schools and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1945. After high school Bob entered the service and was a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. Robert married Joyce L. McBride on September 10, 1950 in Alexis, Illinois and she is currently surviving. After his service Bob attended the University of Illinois and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. After his schooling he began employment at the Gamble Skogmo Warehouse in Monmouth in 1953. They then moved to Fremont, Nebraska where he worked for Gambles and later moved to Billings, Montana in 1960 with the Gamble organization. He and she then moved to Denver, Colorado and lastly moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota with Gambles. Bob's last employment was in Minneapolis working for Spraytech for several years before returning to Monmouth. He is a member of  Monmouth Lodge #37 AF & AM and is a flyer and has built his own airplane and has owned his own airplane locally. Bob loves the game of golf and is a member of Gibson Woods Golf Course locally  He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Monmouth, Illinois, two daughters, Donna and Bill Ritenour of Bloomington, Minnesota and Laura and Doug Preston of Maple Grove, Minnesota and his son Mark and Billie Lee of Blaine, Minnesota. There are four grandchildren, Jessica Fu and Jason of Blaine, Minnesota, Aaron Lee and Diane of Savage, Minnesota, Drew Preston of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Kelly Preston of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. There are four great grandchildren also surviving. Bob is preceded in his death by his parents and his infant brother.  Due to the Covid Pandemic and the local situation cremation is being accorded for Robert. An interment service may be planned by his family at a later date and Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of his care.
